Far Aft and Faintly
These three paintings were created for author Mark Klimaszewski. His stories envisage the Royal Netherlands Navy having a much larger role in the Pacific in the lead up to and during World War 2. Most of the aircraft and ships are based on real equipment but colour schemes have been changed to suit the stories. The major additions are the three big carriers that are Mark's creations, two are based on British WW1 Battlecruisers and the other on the Battleship H.M.S. Agincourt.
The first painting shows a Grumman F3F and two Curtiss SBC3 dive bombers flying over a Battlecruiser-carrier with its DeRuyter class cruiser escorts.
The second picture is of the Battleship-carrier, 'Schoonveldt' with a Tromp class cruiser escort, as a squadron of Hawker Furies fly past.
The final painting shows PZL 23 'Karas' dive bombing squadrons attacking two Imperial Japanese dreadnought battleships, which have been escorting a merchant convoy.
MEDIUM: Acrylic on canvas board
SIZE: 920x610mm (36x24ins)
